'Students will create their assignment in Notability and then share it with their Google Classroom folder. We have discovered a few different ways to do this. I will share the 2 best options!

Notability and google drive
Notability
Notability backup to google drive

1st way - The way we taught our kiddos back in August.

If it is an assignment that teachers would like them to fill in (worksheet vs. starting from scratch), they will need to import the document to Notability first. After sending their assignment back to their Google Classroom folder, they will then go to the assignment in their teacher's Google Classroom and submit their assignment from their Drive. Students should be sending their assignment as a PDF for the best results. To make all of this work, your students will need to go into their settings in Notability, go into 'manage accounts', and login to Google Drive. This will allow them to upload/import documents from their Google Drive. Here is a video showing step-by-step instructions that one of our (amazing) teachers made for our students and staff about turning in Notability assignments: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NepbGWOgO3o

2nd way - Easiest and newest way (the way I wish we taught our kiddos)

For this to work students will need to go to settings in their Notability app. Propresenter and big sur real estate. Turn on iCloud, sign into Google Drive under 'manage accounts', and turn on auto-backup using Google Drive. Once all of these settings are turned on, a folder will automatically be created in their Google Drive (Called 'Notability' if they don't change it). Every time they create a document in Notability, it will automatically upload to their Drive without having to send it (eliminating all of the importing and exporting I talked about above).

Notability Google Drive Problem

How it works: Students still need to save their teachers' documents to their Drive the same way as above (clicking on the assignment link). However, once you get to the step of pulling the document into Notability, there is now an easier way. While in Drive, the students can open the document and push the 3 dots in the upper right corner and select the option of 'opening in' Notability (vs. all of the importing and exporting I mentioned above). This will send the document to Notability and they can begin editing. Once they are done, the note is automatically saved in their 'Notability' folder in Drive (no need to export). To turn in their assignment in Google Classroom they will need to turn in from Drive and they will find it in their Notability folder.

Possible roadblocks:

Notability Import From Google Drive

- If the formats are not working very well, make sure you are using PDFs or documents created in Google programs (Google docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides), thats usually where we see issues.

Notability Backup To Google Drive

- Another strange thing that happens from time to time is: sometimes students need to move their assignment to a different Drive folder for it to open in Notability (not the classroom folder it automatically loads in). I am not sure why that happens, but it might.

- When a teacher assigns an assignment on Classroom, the students will need to open the link before it will show up in their Drive. Not sure why this happens either, It just does.'
